allwhitemargiela-in-mecca-deact asked: Well that's like European standard of beauty that has become a part of African American society. Black girls killing to get weaves so they can have straight hair. Will we ever see Nicki Minaj in her natural hair? Nah. I think Chris Rock's movie is pretty interesting, it basically talks about this topic. Forgot the title, but yeah.

I just don’t know why someone wearing a wig means that they don’t love themself. That’s such a demeaning accusation based on such a frivolous act… I don’t get it. I understand that people believe these actions are rooted in years and years of mental oppression/succumbing to the European standard of beauty and all of that… but the same argument can be said about women who wear make-up but how often do we hear that argument? Seldom.

  3. unculturedpearl said: I don’t think it’s a matter of only doing whatever they want with their hair. But the commentary that usually comes with wig wearing/relaxers: “my hair is too nappy” or “I have nigga naps, can’t wear my hair naturally like you”. That’s sad.
  4. yeezysdisciple said: the reason Nicki wears wigs has alot to do with money. Record labels aren’t exactly shelling out money to female artist, so instead of paying for people to do her hair its cheaper to use wigs.
