allwhitemargiela-in-mecca-deact asked: No, I don't think so. For two reason, society sets the standard and people's happiness are usually due to external factors not internal. With those two things said, I think self love starts where you start looking inward and don't focus on that. If tattoos weren't as popular, I doubt that people would deem them as attractive and most people won't get it. Etc etc.

The question wasn’t really about tattoos but about how people say that black women who’s hair isn’t natural don’t love themselves and the extent to which that process of thinking can be applied to other forms of body modification.

And I still want to know if a woman dyes her natural hair, is she still considered “natural”. And I also wanted to know how one can tell if another person loves themself or not by simply looking at them. People are claiming to have the undeniable ability to measure how others value themselves, and that amuses me.
